Local Offer (Wiltshire Council parents information)

The Local Offer has been developed by Wiltshire Council. It was recognised by the government that there needs to be an improvement in the support given to children and young people with special education needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and their families.

With this in mind, the Local Offer was developed and is offered by all local councils across the country. It is the place to go for any SEND information you need about education, health and social care.

Support for your child

When your child starts at Tisbury Pre-school, we will work with you to make sure they settle in. Our manager and deputy manager are always available if you have any concerns or worries.

Every child is assigned their own key worker. They will support your child throughout their time with us, enabling them to reach their full potential.

Family life can throw up many different struggles. If you are having any difficulties with your child’s behaviour, development or education, we are here to support you. If we can’t help you ourselves, we will know where you need to go for help.

You can request a private meeting out of hours or have an informal chat with us at the end of the pre-school day.

Learning Book

We use the Learning Book app to record and analyse each child’s progress throughout their time at Tisbury Pre-school. It’s a great way to interact and engage with your child’s early years learning.

Designed with digital safety and security in mind, you can be sure to access lots of helpful information through the app without any worries.

Heading off to primary school

One of our main purposes, as a pre-school, is to prepare your child for primary school. Our manager, deputy manager and your child’s key person will make sure everything is in place, ready for their transition.

The local primary school is St John’s and we work closely with them to make sure your child is totally ready. This involves transition visits to the school and teacher visits to the pre-school to meet any children moving up to ‘big school!’ We then hold a lovely leaver’s event to celebrate your child’s time with us and wish them all the best when they move onto the next stage of their education.

If you plan for your child to attend a different school to St John’s, we are happy to arrange similar visits with them too.

Just in case you aren’t aware of it, the Wiltshire Council Primary School Application deadline is 15th January 2022. Here’s the link to the application form.

Funding

2-year-old funding

Some children are eligible for 2-year-old funding. Eligibility depends on receipt of certain benefits and is for up to 15 hours a week, in term time.

To check whether you qualify and for more information, check the Wiltshire Council website here.

If you need any further information, we are here to help.
Please just ask us.

Every 3 to 4-year-old in England is entitled to 570 hours of childcare or early years education each year. Using these hours during term-time only (38 weeks per year) allows you 15 hours of free funding each week.

If families meet the criteria, it is possible to access 30 hours of childcare for early years education each week, if used during term time.

You will need to apply for this funding from Wiltshire Council yourself. If you need any help or guidance, just ask us.

For more information and to check eligibility, you can read more on the Wiltshire Council website here.
